There were 2 challenges in the design of this tenant renovation: reuse of as much of the existing build-out as possible, and breaking up the large expanses of rectangular space. By reusing significant amounts of the ceiling, lighting, mechanical system, and doors & hardware we were able to bring the job in well under budget. The addition of the undulating bulkhead defined the circulation areas and the core while adding interest and color to the space and eliminating any potential “boxy” feel. Meanwhile, the warm earthy colors and quilt-like pattern of the VCT flooring gave an inviting & homey ambience to the corporate offices of this large Northern Virginia home builder.
