The inspiration for the space was one of
the client's photographs: an old Eskimo woman holding an
Eskimo baby, both wrapped in pelts and furs.
The client told us that the tribe of Alaskan
Natives who owns the corporation are traditionally fisherman,
residing near the ocean& Lakes where the fishing was
plentiful. Thus, color became extremely important in the
design; the taupes & browns enhanced the images of the
furs and leathers, while the ice-blue reflects the influence
of the Indian's heritage as fisherman.
The swirling pattern in the carpet mimics
the flow of the water in the fishing pools.
